Auditory Processing
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) also referred to as Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), occurs when the central nervous system (CNS) has difficulty processing incoming auditory information. Children with APD may exhibit difficulty determining the difference between speech sounds, understanding speech in noisy environments, and/or with following directions. Children with APD often have difficulties with reading and writing, in addition to understanding spoken information in the classroom.
