Tongue Thrust

Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD), often referred to as "Tongue Thrusts," occur when the tongue moves forward in a strong way, during speech and/or swallowing. At rest the tongue may be too far forward in the mouth, it may also protrude between the teeth at rest, during speech and/or during swallowing. Tongue thrusts often impact articulation, when speech sounds are produced too far forward in the mouth, impacting speech intelligibility. WordPlay Speech Therapy can help to correct the tongue thrust and to target associated articulation errors.

If your child's tongue appears to be getting in the way when he or she is talking or eating, contact Brittany to see if WordPlay Speech-Language Therapy can help.
